The Leadership Pulse is the result of a long-term research study on organizational growth and change. Approximately 12 years ago, Dr. Theresa Welbourne began a large-scale project examining the factors predicting growth in thousands of organizations and with hundreds of thousands of employees. In all of these studies, she found that the key to long-term stock price growth, earnings per share growth, firm survival, and individual employee success is creating an organization environment where the ideas and learning resident within employees and other stakeholders (e.g. customers, partners, board members, suppliers) are understood, valued and acted upon.
Through a series of experiments with industry leaders, new technology has been developed to more frequently gather knowledge from stakeholders and to provide that data immediately to managers who take advantage of new opportunities, enhance their learning, and improve performance. The technology that drove this learning and improvement process evolved into a business venture in 1997. In June 2003, Dr. Welbourne and colleagues transferred the learning from the business world back to the academic realm with the Leadership Pulse.
The goal of the Leadership Pulse process is continuous and real-time learning for all participants.

Getting Involved
If you are a manager, you may elect to participate in the Leadership Pulse process. About every other month you will receive a link to a survey, be asked to complete it, and at the end of the survey you will receive access to the results. You also will receive access to the on-line reports. This is available to you at no cost. To add your name to our Leadership Pulse Dialog list, sign up at: www.umbs.leadership.eepulse.com.
